The bylaws of the Penn Colony Historical Society currently require
the election of 5 board members at each annual meeting. The elected
5 board members in turn elect officers from their number.
Through out the year the board meets often and conducts the business
for the Historical Society. As the Society ventures into the museum
development and continues the popular newsletter and web site the
board is requesting that there be a change in the by laws to increase
the board size. A proposal to be voted on at the picnic will permit
the election of no fewer than 5 or no more than 11 members of the
Board.
Having a larger board will allow the responsibilities to be shared
and will relieve the work of the current 5 member board. Projects
like fund raising, public relations, gathering accurate genealogy
information, discussions with area west Richardson County family
groups who might be interested in joining us in the development
of a West Richardson County Historic Site, plus the collection of
items and pictures for the museum are a few of the responsibilities
that will challenge us in the years to come.
Please give some thought to being an active board member and taking
part in the exciting adventures to come. With the support of all
of you the dream will materialize and the history of the development
of the area will be preserved.
Contact a current board member with you suggestions. If you have
questions ask
see you at the picnic on Saturday, August 9 and
Sunday, August 10.
