MESSAGE FROM YOUR PRESIDENT - The Museum Project - Pennsylvania Historical Society of Nebraska

MESSAGE FROM YOUR PRESIDENT...
by Dan Pleiss 3/2002

The Pennsylvania Colony Historical Society of Nebraska has the opportunity to acquire the farmhouse, one outbuilding, and approximately two acres of land from Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Epley. To some of you, this property was known as the Henry Heim farm; to others known as the Ron and Carolee Heim farmstead.

The purpose of this letter is to inform you of this possibility and to solicit your support in this endeavor. The purchase price of the property is approximately $10,000-additional costs will be incurred, such as abstract updating, survey, title insurance, recording fees, etc. In addition there will be repairs that are required and funds will be required for ongoing expenses.

Your Board would like to raise sufficient funds to cover the purchase and the repairs, to provide a reserve for the ongoing expenses, and to provide funds to construct a metal building to house part of the collection of artifacts being received.

Our initial fund-raising effort is for the acquisition of the property. Once we have acquired the property, our long-term goal will be for the construction of the building to house the artifacts and to use as a museum/meeting area. Our fund raising goal is $300,000, through contributions, bequests, grants, etc.

At the present time, your Society has approximately $10,000 on hand. However, this purchase will totally deplete these funds. We need your financial support. It is the intention of your Board to set up a separate bank account to receive all funds donated to this project. Initial funds received will go toward the actual purchase and repair of the property and the remainder will be invested to be used for ongoing expenses, repairs and upkeep of the property. Depending on the amount of funds received, some may be used to build the metal building.

This opportunity is something many of us have been working toward for a long time. It has been a dream that is now at hand. Your financial support is urgently requested. The Society is an Internal Revenue Service qualified not- for-profit 501(c) 3 organization. The official name of the Society is "The Pennsylvania Colony Historical Society of Nebraska". The Federal Identification Number is 31-1581702. If you wish to include the Society in your estate planning, any member of the Board or I would be pleased to discuss this matter with you.

Your contributions are tax deductible. If you wish, you can make a contribution at this time and/or pledge an amount payable over a period of time.

The Board welcomes your thoughts and comments on this proposed acquisition. You can address your comments to any Board member. The Board also welcomes any historical information, photos, etc. you may have on this property.

Thank you for your continued interest and support of this organization. -

Dan Pleiss, President
