Fiala Family Donates Items
Recently, John and Delores Fiala of Grand Island (John's mother Marie is the daughter of Jonas and Ida Heim) donated several items that had belonged to that family to the Pennsylvania Colony's future museum.

The items are: A decorative hair comb that belonged to Edna Heim Keller; a photo of the Dawson town band, ca 1890, with a brass button from Jonas Heim's band uniform; a ladderback chair with cane seat from the home of Jonas Heim dating from the 1840's; a dry sink; four dresses of the 1920's and 1930's that belonged to Marie Heim Fiala and Edna Heim Keller; a portrait of Delila Hurst Emerson, Ida Heim's mother, and a framed lace collar worn in the portrait; a dress worn by Marie Heim Fiala at her graduation from Dawson High School, May 18, 1927; a dress worn by Marie Heim at her marriage to Emil A. (John) Fiala on December 31, 1930, and a handkerchief she carried at her wedding; a white silk embroidered handkerchief carried by Ida May Emerson at her wedding to Jonas A. Heim, February 15, 1894; and a black mourning veil of handmade silk with floral designs. Pending the establishment of a museum, the items are being stored by Robert Williamson.
