Black Walnut Cookies
(from a Penn Dutch Cookbook
purchased by Capt. Keith M. Heim,
Fort Dix, New Jersey dated September 4, 1963)

2 cups packed brown sugar
4 eggs, well beaten
1 ¼ cup flour
1 cup oatmeal
½ teaspoon baking powder
½ teaspoon salt
1 lb. Black walnut meats, chopped

Add the sugar to the eggs and mix well. Mix flour, oatmeal, baking powder, and salt. Add this gradually to the egg mixture, mixing well. Add the walnut meats. Drop by teaspoon about 2 inches apart onto greased cookie sheet. Allow cookies to cool slightly. Then quickly loosen all cookies and remove from cookie sheet.
