Bread Pudding
Mrs. Rueben (True) Ulmer
Heat to scalding 2 cups milk.
Pour over 4 cups coarse breadcrumbs
¼ cup butter melted
½ cup sugar
¼ tsp. Salt
Cool and add 2 eggs slightly beaten
½ cup seeded raisins
1 tsp cinnamon
Pour into buttered 1 ½ quart casserole dish (71/2")
Bake until silver knife inserted in pudding comes out clean.
Serve warm with or without sauce. Bake 350 degrees for 1 hour.
Sauce:
Vanilla, lemon. Or nutmeg sauce
1-cup sugar
2 tbs. Cornstarch
Stir in gradually 2 cups boiling water,
Boil 1minute stirring constantly. Stir in 4 tbs. Butter, 2 tsp.
Vanilla or 2 tsp. Lemon juice with 1 tbs. Grated lemon rind or
2 tsp. nutmeg. Keep hot until time to serve.
