I was given an old KMA Radio of Shenandoah, Iowa homemakers cook
book. KMA was a station that all listened to in the early days
good
weather
.news
and homemaking programs. This collection
of favorite recipes was a sought after prize yearly after being
published and distributed by the radio station. 2004 has been a
banner year for gardening and fruit in both rural and city. This
summer apple recipe is as delicious today as it was when the applesauce
cake was baked in a hot wood stove with no air conditioning. The
recipe is written in interesting order in comparison to recipes
of today.

2 cups sifted flour
1 cup of sugar
1 - ½ teaspoons of soda
1 - ½ teaspoons of salt
2 tablespoons of coca

1 cup broken nuts

greased tube pan. Top with more nut meats. Bake at 350 degrees for
