| 4 eggs – beaten 2 teaspoons anise extract 1 teaspoon of cloves 1 teaspoon of all spice 1 teaspoon of ginger 2 teaspoons of cinnamon ½ teaspoon black pepper (scant)Heat 4 cups molasses, stir in 2 teaspoons soda. Pour over above ingredients and mix well. Add enough flour to make a very stiff dough. Let stand over night in a cool place. Roll in long strips and cut in ½ inch pieces and bake in a 350 degree oven for 10 minutes or until done. They are very hard cookies and great to munch with hot coffee or tea. |
