Feature Recipe December 2004 By Shirley Williamson Haner |
Back in the early 70’s when we lived in North Platte, Nebraska a special friend, Lauri Morrison and I decided to share our recipes and began a seasonal fun time together making Christmas candies. As soon as our husbands were off to work, she came to my house and we began. It was a lot of fun. I am still making these goodies at Christmas time for family and friends. A generous handful of several candies will make a great Christmas plate to serve a sweets starved crew or to give as a special gift. One easy recipe and great popular favorite was the Cherry Scotch Fudge. Try it … I am sure you will like it and make several batches for the holidays. 8 squares of chocolate almond bark 1 – 12oz. Pkg. Chocolate chips 1 – 12oz. Pkg. Butter scotch chips 1 can sweetened condensed milk 1 ½ cup chopped walnuts and drained maraschino cherries 1 teaspoon vanilla Melt chocolate and almond bark and chocolate chips in microwave until melted. Add sweetened condensed milk to chocolate and then heat in microwave until hot. Add chopped cherries and nuts. Stir. Place in 9X13 foil lined pan. Cool and cut. |
