German Red Cabbage

1 small head red cabbage, washed and cut coarsely
1 med. Onion, chopped
3 tart apples (Jonathans) cored and quartered
2 teaspoon salt
1 ½ tablespoon sugar
½ cup vinegar
3 tablespoons bacon grease or butter
Put all ingredients in crock pot in order listed. Cover on low for 8 – 10 hours. Then on high for 3 hours. Stir well before serving.
